In 1995, UNESCO, in an effort to make us all aware of the need to accept the different, designated November 16 as the International Day for Tolerance. Tolerance is an insurmountable need to build equal relations, to have free flow of ideas, to respect the human rights. “Tolerance is respect, acceptance and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world’s cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human.” UNESCO’s 1995 Declaration of Principles on Tolerance.
